‘Towards a more innovative, client-focussed ACC’

The Scope

The Chief Executive of ACC engaged Doug Martin to facilitate an internal review of the Corporations senior management structure.

Our Involvement

Doug Martin facilitated a 2 day workshop of ACC’s senior management team which reviewed the adequacy of the senior management structure. The workshop reached agreement on a major revamping of the structure to better align it with ACC’s core functions and strategic direction.

MartinJenkins then oversaw the implementation of the new structure, including the preparation of the consultation document, the scoping of the new senior management positions, assisting the Chief Executive in reviewing the outcome of the consultation, and both overseeing and providing advice on the external recruitment process to the nine new senior management positions. This included advising on and giving effect to the options available to unsuccessful internal applicants.

The scale of change in the senior management structure had a significant impact on middle management. MartinJenkins assisted the newly appointed senior managers arrive at coherent middle management structures for their respective areas of responsibility by facilitating workshops of those managers and union delegates who had been charged with arriving at new structures.

MartinJenkins also assisted in a comprehensive change programme that put in place the new middle management structures.

The Outcome

The outcome is a management structure for ACC that well positions the organisation to deliver on its core functions and realise its strategic direction.

This ensured that an integrated and consistent approach was taken to the re-organisation of ACC.
