MED publishes report on the Evaluation of Buy Kiwi Made - The Ministry of Economic Development recently released this report co-authored by MartinJenkins on the Evaluation of the Buy Kiwi Made. The evaluation examined the overall effectiveness of the Buy Kiwi Made (BKM) programme and concluded that “while the BKM campaign has achieved many of its objectives, we have not found convincing evidence of significant behavioural impact commensurate with the cost of the campaign."

Latest Capital Market Development Taskforce reports released -

- The Capital Market Development Taskforce, due to release its final report on 16 December, recently released the latest tranche of commissioned reports, including this paper by MartinJenkins Director Nick Davis on the role of government in capital market development. The report highlights the multifaceted ways in which government impacts on capital markets, and suggests a framework for considering the appropriate role for government in capital market development.

Environment Canterbury review team announced -

- Environment Minister Nick Smith and Local Government Minister Rodney Hide today announced the members of the review team that will investigate Environment Canterbury’s poor performance. The team includes MartinJenkins’ Director Doug Martin.
The areas of concern that the review team will focus on are the processing of resource consents on time, developing a proper framework for managing Canterbury's natural resources, and the management of relationships with Canterbury's territorial local authorities. MartinJenkins' Director speaks at Crown Entities Conference - Director Nick Davis was an invited speaker at the Legal Issues for Crown Entities Conference held in Wellington on 23 September 2009. His presentation compares the findings of two recent reviews of departments’ Crown entity monitoring practices, and explores future challenges for monitoring departments, government ministers and Crown entities. New Evaluation and Research Manager for MartinJenkins
- MartinJenkins is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Dundon-Smith as Manager of Evaluation and Research Services.
David has specialist skills in social and economic policy, research (both quantitative and qualitative) and evaluation. He is an experienced consultant and researcher who until recently ran his own UK-based research consultancy, Step Ahead Research, working predominantly with local and national government agencies. He has been with MartinJenkins since October 2008.
David takes over from Meenakshi Sankar who is taking up a senior consultancy position that will provide her with greater flexibility and opportunity to further develop her role as a leader in the field of evaluation. - 3 March 2009

MartinJenkins awarded UNESCO contract - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has recently awarded MartinJenkins a contract to undertake a major mid-term evaluation of education sector strategies. The evaluation, which will focus on UNESCO’s activities in support of Education for All, is further recognition that MartinJenkins has become a trusted provider of external evaluation services in the most important and politically sensitive areas of international development. The work will be led by MartinJenkins Director, Nick Davis, and the final report will be available in the second half of 2009.

Report on the evaluation of the trial of the new evaluative approach to quality assurance - In 2008, MartinJenkins was invited to undertake an independent evaluation of a NZQA-run trial involving eight tertiary education organisations. The trial provided NZQA an opportunity to understand the current self-assessment practices within the participating TEOs and for the TEOs to learn more about the new quality assurance arrangements and their relationship to the wider tertiary education reforms.
