Evaluation and Research

Evaluation and Research (E&R) is key to improving the performance of any organisation. There is growing recognition that high-quality E&R activities make a significant difference to organisational culture, learning and decision-making.

Since 2004, MartinJenkins has built a highly respected E&R team comprising eight evaluation and research practitioners from a variety of disciplines. Our highly experienced team has the expertise to undertake sharp, focussed and highly-relevant evaluation and research across a wide range of sectors, including early childhood education, international development, building and housing and workplace health and safety. Our clients include the public sector, local government, tertiary institutes, industry associations and international development agencies.

The hallmark of our work is ensuring that evaluation and research generates critical data and valuable insight for decision-makers. We approach our work from an informed, pragmatic perspective and deliver information you can confidently rely upon for evidence-based policymaking and organisational development.

Some key questions:

  • Does your organisation have a robust and comprehensive strategy for evaluating performance and results?
  • Do you have sufficient information on your policy, programme and organisational effectiveness to support critical decision-making?
  • How do you know your activities represent value for money?
  • Are you adopting the most appropriate methodologies to meet your evaluation and research needs?

How we can assist

MartinJenkins offers a full range of Evaluation and Research Services:

Strategic Evaluation & Research
The ability to generate highly valuable, usable information requires a strategic approach to developing your evaluation and research strategy. Strategic evaluation and research adds value by playing a critical linking role between evaluation and research and the policy and strategy development process. Strategic evaluation and research projects aim to examine the combined impact of an organisation’s activities.

We are skilled at developing systems level and organisation-wide evaluation and research solutions, taking account of the broad context within which programmes and policies operate. In support of this, our team can draw on the expertise of colleagues with experience in policy management, organisational strategy and design, financial and economic analysis, and HR management.

Programme and Policy Evaluation & Research
Efficiency and effectiveness and value for money reviews are in demand at MartinJenkins as organisations respond to the worst economic crisis in decades.

Our E&R team is skilled at diagnosing, designing and project managing evaluation projects – from initial conception through to final report writing stage as well as providing clients with robust and insightful analysis. Our reports provide sharp, incisive recommendations for improving programmes and policies. We take full responsibility for all aspects of the project and work closely with our clients to ensure our work meets expectations.

We draw on our extensive knowledge of evaluation theory and best-practice methods including: applied quantitative and qualitative methods, policy-focussed literature reviews, comparative policy analysis, environmental scans and situational analysis, and economic and financial analysis.

Consultancy & Advisory Services
Our expertise in evaluation and research is well-recognised by our client base. We are frequently called upon to advise clients on their E&R programmes, and are often asked to play a mentoring role in building E&R capacity within organisations.
