Dr David Prentice

David chairs our firm’s Board, bringing proven experience and strong values-based leadership. In particular he believes that authenticity and credibility need to be bedrock strengths for any professional services firm.

As our Board Chair, David brings experience of successful leadership and governance.

Joining MartinJenkins in 2019, David leads the Board to set and deliver its strategy, building on the continuing opportunities for the firm as trusted advisers to its clients, and making a difference for all New Zealanders.
David originally hails from Scotland, earning Bachelor’s and Doctorate degrees in Engineering from Edinburgh University, and later moving to Aotearoa as a Civil Engineer in the late 1990s.

He is the former CEO and Managing Director of Opus International, a successful global professional services firm.

In 2018–19 David chaired the Interim Climate Change Committee, which was tasked with providing evidence and analysis on emissions from agriculture and electricity generation, to be passed on to the new Climate Change Commission.

David is currently an Independent Director of Trustpower. In January 2020 he will take up the role of Interim Chief Executive of Trustpower, for a period of up to one year.
