Naomi is a skilled writer, able to turn her hand to a broad range of tasks. She is particularly adept at handling technically complex material, to ensure engagement, clarity and accuracy.

Naomi joined MartinJenkins in 2014 as a specialist writer, bringing with her wide-ranging experience within public service and commercial contexts. She has 25 years’ experience researching, writing and editing diverse texts, across the spread from daily journalism to statutory compliance documents.

Naomi combines top notch writing and editing with strong inquiry skills. She is able to draw out the key elements of an issue or activity from expert practitioners, while laying the foundations for ongoing relationships that will stand the pressure of time-critical communication tasks.

She is equally skilled in writing to inform or to persuade. She has a background in public relations, advertising and sales writing, as well as technical writing and documentation – and particular familiarity with resource management, energy, education, culture and tourism, and primary industries. 

Naomi’s recent experience includes:

• Writing consultation documents and supporting stakeholder engagement within our projects

• Writing and editing business cases prepared using the BBC structure

• Writing, editing and production management of A new path for the Chatham Islands, a summary report on a major economic growth study for the Chatham Islands Council.

Before joining MartinJenkins, Naomi was a senior communications adviser in Education New Zealand, where she was responsible for industry-facing communications for the international education sector. Other roles have included editing APEC energy outlook reports, supporting local bodies with technical reports to general audiences, and communication planning for a major policy implementation.
