A communications and engagement practitioner, Rachel captures the complex, nuanced perspectives of stakeholders with clear, comprehensive analysis, to support her clients to make wise decisions.

Joining Martin Jenkins in 2021, Rachel brings a broad set of skills from a background spanning 20 years in the public and private sectors. She has a depth of experience in relationship management, branding and strategy, and expertise with assessment and complex problem-solving.

Rachel thrives on finding pathways through daunting challenges. Before joining us she worked closely with a small team in the government social-services sector developing an intensive intervention pilot programme to support whānau with multiple high and complex needs. She has a curious, analytical mind and always brings a genuineness and frankness to her work.

She is also a skilled interviewer and experienced facilitator, able to capture diverse views whilst guiding groups towards constructive decisions. Adept at communicating complex, dense information in simple ways that are relevant for the audience, Rachel is proficient with various writing styles – from creative copy, to reports and court documents.

Rachel is confident working in kaupapa Māori and Pasifika environments, and using te reo Māori, including karakia and waiata.

Rachel also has a background in writing – she ran her own business producing short- and long-form copy for an array of commercial projects and agencies, and has worked as a feature writer and book reviewer.

Rachel’s qualifications

Rachel has a Masters of Social Work (1st Class Honours) from the University of Auckland, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre studies, Modern Literature and Film from the University of Otago.
