Andrew is a results-focused public policy expert with a track record of finding pragmatic solutions when client problems span environmental, social, economic and cultural dimensions.
Andrew is a strategic thinker who understands that the best policy is the one that can be implemented. Through his work delivering complex multi-party projects under demanding time pressures, he has obtained invaluable experience in building consensus, and is expert at designing and implementing collaborative policy processes.
Andrew joined MartinJenkins in 2013 after five years with the Ministry for the Environment and the Land and Water Forum. Before joining central government Andrew worked as a manager with Mighty River Power, as a planner with the Auckland Regional Council, and as an environmental consultant.
Andrew has taken a lead role in some of New Zealand’s most complex natural resource management projects over the past decade. This has included:
developing regulations to govern exploratory drilling for oil and gas in the Exclusive Economic Zone, for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
developing a pan-sectoral policy on nutrient management for the Land and Water Partnership
designing governance processes and structures for freshwater management planning for the Land and Water Forum and the Ministry for the Environment
developing the National Policy Statement for electricity generation for the Ministry for the Environment.
