Consulting

As a policy specialist Amy has wisdom and capabilities beyond her years, having been battle-conditioned early in her career in the kind of intense government roles where every day is a week.

Amy changed up through the gears of professional intensity extremely quickly early in her career, proving herself not just in core policy work but also in developing sector strategies and advising on major organisational change.

Her government experience included working closely with ministers and senior officials in maximally challenging areas, particularly the Housing and MIQ portfolios during the pandemic.

Those demanding roles gave Amy a close understanding of the machinery of government – knowledge that today is invaluable for both government and private-sector clients.

Examples of Amy’s work

  • Project-managing the producing of a significant sector strategy, including organising six weeks of in-person and online workshops for public consultation, preparing Cabinet papers and briefings to the Minister, and managing internal communication processes for the whole-of-Ministry work programme
  • Advising a Deputy Secretary on policy projects, cross-policy work programmes, organisational structure, change management, and embedding strategy in an organisation
  • Complex and technical regulatory analysis for a large Ministry, finely balancing the competing interests of stakeholders with ministerial directions in order to reach a workable solution
  • Private Secretary for Housing and MIQ, two of the most demanding portfolios during the COVID period, one of the most challenging eras of New Zealand history.
