Catalina de Mendoza

Catalina excels in making highly complex financial information relevant and real for decision makers. She confidently supports senior executives, boards, and leaders of government agencies to make informed decisions, bringing them clarity without losing any of the critical nuance.

Catalina’s expertise in corporate finance includes a strong focus on evaluating and advising on financial performance, capital structures, and investment strategies. She also has deep experience analysing and reporting on the performance of Crown-owned companies, including providing expert advice to government on major investments, business cases, and Crown funding mechanisms.

Before joining us in early 2026, Catalina was a senior analyst within the Treasury’s Commercial Performance team, specialising in monitoring Crown companies and entities. Previously, she worked at Fitch Ratings and also gained valuable experience in investment banking in her home country of Colombia.

Examples of Catalina’s work

• At the New Zealand Treasury, Catalina worked on key Crown commercial transactions, including advising shareholding Ministers on the feasibility study for a capital raise to help Kiwibank grow and on the Crown’s acquisition of Kiwibank’s parent, Kiwi Group Holdings.
• She worked on the review of weather forecasting settings in New Zealand, including the optimal arrangement between the MetService and NIWA.
• Catalina led the deployment of Crown support to Hawke’s Bay Airport during the COVID-19 pandemic.
