Julianne Hickey

Julianne works with leaders to manage complex change and turn ambitious goals into practical action. She enjoys working where strategy, people, and implementation meet, helping leaders to see the wider system in which change is taking place and to decide what matters most.

In a career that has spanned Aotearoa, the UK, and the Pacific, Julianne has had extensive experience in organisational design, operating models, strategy and transformation, and technology-enabled change. She has helped establish new organisations, designed regulatory systems, and supported large-scale change programmes.

Julianne has worked alongside a variety of technology transformations, including cloud migrations, digital operating model changes, and service redesign. With an understanding of both the opportunities technology creates and the consequences when systems fail, she knows that contingency planning, governance, and organisational readiness are critical parts of successful change.

Most recently, Julianne has been supporting leaders to adopt AI in ways that strengthen their organisational capability while maintaining good judgement and kaitiakitanga.

• Led the establishment of a large government department’s AI programme, from capability building to delivering solutions
• Developed the Employee Value Proposition and roadmap for the largest Māori tertiary organisation in Aotearoa
• Wrote the AI Strategy and Policy for an award-winning local council
• Led crisis and humanitarian work for Caritas, helping communities across multiple countries prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, while working alongside local partners, leaders, and agencies.
