William helps organisations improve processes, lift the quality of their decision making, and work through change in a practical way. In particular he supports clients to learn from experience and turn this into better ways of working.

He has worked in government, industry, and consulting. His career has had a strong focus on technology and innovation, both in strategy roles and in leading implementation.

William has extensive experience in root-cause work and continuous improvement. He helps organisations tackle complex problems and find out what’s really causing trouble.

Examples of William’s work

  • He helped the Department of Conservation work through a major backlog of permissions applications, reducing pending applications from 1,300 to under 450 while improving throughput, consistency, and decision quality. He also supported the development of process and policy for DOC’s role in Fast Track applications.
  • At Gamefroot, William helped lead and shape the strategy that turned the company from a mobile games business into a leading education technology company in Aotearoa. He also supported digital inclusion work with Māori, Pacific peoples, and Gifted & Exceptional communities.
  • Earlier in his career, William helped deliver an innovative browser-based app that was rolled out nationally on time and on budget.
  • William led a team of investigators in the power sector to identify root causes of incidents and support a no-blame culture, helping reduce incidents through continuous improvement.
