Marcus Pawson

Content and Technical Writer | Kaituhi
Wellington Office

Marcus is a writer-editor with a wide knowledge of the government sector. He brings Plain English skills and an eye for engaging content to all his work

Marcus provides writing and editing expertise for MartinJenkins’ reports and proposals, making sure they are accessible and engaging, and with a clear, persuasive narrative.

Marcus learned Plain English writing the hard way, by editing legal textbooks written by lawyers and academics, and one of his strengths is presenting complex technical information in accessible language and a digestible format.

Before he joined us in 2017, Marcus spent nearly 20 years as a freelance writer and editor, working mainly for government agencies and not-for-profits, particularly in the legal and justice sectors.

Marcus’s broad experience includes work on standards and guideline documents; reports and discussion papers; procedures manuals; SOIs, Annual Reports and other corporate documents; training and educational resources; and website writing.

Marcus has also researched and written legal textbooks for lawyers and law students. He has a Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University, and initially worked in legal publishing as a senior legal editor and Plain English trainer.
